Why do you train strength using percentages? Are you ‘scaling’ your strength session if another person is going heavier than you? No. You use percentages for an individualised approach, because fitness IS personal. Then why don’t you use percentage work for your ‘metcons’? Why not use an individualised approach like you do with strength training? You potentially use linear progression for strength gains but for conditioning you focus on ‘getting out of breath’ with no intent behind the numbers, no explanation behind the time period or rest periods given and no reason behind the repetitions used or understanding of limitations within the workout other than loading. What dose response are you trying to expose? Are you training to adapt or are you testing for assessment purposes? So many questions you should know the answers to. Its only complex if you don’t know. Its only ‘too much thought’ if you’re unaware of where the thinking comes from. Stop guessing and hoping and start learning and progressing.
